After completing my exchange and returning to the US, in order to study at university, I knew that I again wanted to spend time in Thailand in order to learn more of the language and visit my previous host families and friends. Through my church I learned of The Centre. Since I had spent my previous year in central Thailand, I had no desire to spend my summer in an entirely new place located in the northern area. But, after much prayer and thought, I believed God was telling me that Chiang Mai was where he wanted me to be. When I first came to The Centre I informed Tim and Clair of my dilemma concerning Thai culture. This dilemma consisted of my previous experiences with the buddhist religion. And, although I have been a Christian my whole life, I took part in different ceremonies connected with buddhism. My mind was interested in buddhism even though my heart knew that Jesus is the Savior of the world. For two months I worked at The Centre and God radically changed my opinion and views on Buddhism and how it’s affecting Thailand. He opened up my eyes to his truth and showed me how the lies of the enemy are blinding the minds and hearts of the Thai people. To be honest, I hate it. For me this is hard to admit, coming from my previous experience in Thai culture. But I am so thankful for what he has revealed to me. I believe that through prayer and fasting all nations will come to know Him…including Thailand. Marie Wichmann |

From 2002-2003 I was an International Rotary Exchange Student to Thailand. Living with Thai host families and attending high school I personally made the decision to try and learn as much about this new culture as I possibly could. Since buddhism plays a large role in Thai culture, I purposely tried to view and take part in as many religious ceremonies as possible
